Marsh Health Study East Fowl River (AL) Vegetation Transects 2018

Dataset extent

For the Fowl River Marsh Health Study, vegetation transects were plotted at 25-m intervals, perpendicular to the shoreline across each study site. Percent cover of individual plant species was measured within 1-m2quadrats placed every 3 m along transects. In all, 895 quadrats were sampled across 74 transects during August and September 2018. Seventy-three plant species were recorded. Wetland ecosystem function was evaluated using a hydrogeomorphic (HGM) model assessment protocol for tidal fringe wetlands. A Floristic Quality Index (FQI) was used to measure vegetative quality.
